The wine tapers off with dramatic length, leaving a subtle saline saturation and navel orange twang. The 2016 is wonderfully complex and truly seductive. These are vibrant, energetic wines that display remarkable purity and complexity. Despite their zero-to-low dosage, they also possess remarkable richness and balance. Contratto delivers some of the finest examples of Alta Langa."
James Suckling (93)- "Lemon rind, biscuits, walnuts, dried pears and grapefruit on the nose, followed by a crisp, bone-dry and zesty palate. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and savory, with a deliciously biscuity finish."
Wine Advocate (94)- "The Contratto 2014 Metodo Classico Special Cuvée Pas Dosé is very beautiful with generous fruit weight and a soft, medium to full-bodied style that feels especially bright and fresh in this cool vintage. The wine shows a gold-copper appearance, and the beading is very fine and silky. There is orange skin and bitter almond on the lovely finish."
