Wine Advocate (94)- "The Contratto 2016 Alta Langa Metodo Classico Blanc de Noir Pas Dosé For England (packaged in a heavy glass bottle) reveals an extra layer of spice on the bouquet. The wine starts off with pretty apricot and orchard fruit nuances but segues to a touch of cinnamon, dried ginger and crushed stone. The beading shows some spice as well, thanks to its sharp persistence."
James Suckling (93)- "A salmon-orange colored sparkling with aromas of raspberries, cherries, grapefruit, toasted brioche and almonds. It’s medium-bodied with tangy acidity and tiny, sleek bubbles. Lovely zestiness and savory, saline character. Bone-dry and fresh. Drink now."
Vinous Media (92)- "The 2016 Pas Dosé Blanc de Noir For England is a varietal Pinot Noir that is significantly more pink than white in color. Here I’m finding a fruit-filled bouquet of peaches, strawberries and melon complemented by hints of raw almond. It fills the palate with an elegant stream of silky bubbles, showing more savory than sweet, as salty minerals and tart orchard fruits settle upon the senses. The cheeks pucker with residual tension, as a salty flourish gives way to bitter hints of citrus rinds. This may not follow the general expectations of Blanc de Noir, but it certainly is a gorgeous Alta Langa Pinot Noir. (Lot# 22/07/21)"
