Wine Details

Ronco Dei Tassi Fosarin Bianco Collio DOC

Fosarin, from six-acre vineyard of the same name, is a blend of roughly equal parts Pinot Bianco and Friulano with 20% Malvasia Istriana. Pinot Bianco undergoes fermentation and a brief aging in used barriques, providing backbone and finesse to the wine. Friulano and Malvasia are vinified only in stainless steel, Friulano delivering mid-palate weight and richness while Malvasia endows the Fosarin with the exotic aromatics (think anise, peach and yogurt) that really drive the wine. Fresh and fruity when young, the blend becomes ample and spicy with age, displaying a rich palate, depth and texture classic of Friuli wines. The Fosarin encompasses all the finest characteristics of the territory from which it comes: a perfectly calibrated wine, impeccable balance between elegance and power, and a satisfyingly sapid and fruity ending. This is Friuli in a glass.

Ronco Dei Tassi Fosarin Bianco Collio DOC 2021

James Suckling (93)- "This is rich and floral with ripe peaches and apples and a zesty, honeyed fragrance to it. Full and layered with creamy texture. A little salty and mineral with some richness and depth to the fruit. It has an oily texture but keeps freshness and tension. Drink or hold. "

Ronco Dei Tassi Fosarin Bianco Collio DOC 2019

Italian Wine Report (94)- "Named for the eponymous vineyard, this is a blend of 40% Pinot Bianco, 40% Friulano and 20% Malvasia Istriana. Bright, medium-intense yellow; aromas of golden apple, wet stone and goldenrod tea. Medium-full with excellent concentration, this offers beautiful texture, excellent persistence and wonderful Collio typicity. The finish offers notes of basil and pea. Pair with rich seafood or and enjoy over the next 5-7 years."

Ronco Dei Tassi Fosarin Bianco Collio DOC 2018

International Wine Review (93)- "This is an excellent example of Collio Bianco, which is typically a selected blend of grape varieties. It shows outstanding balance–concentrated flavors of both orchard fruit and savory herbs, good freshness, a firm backbone, and a full, lightly creamy mouth feel. A blend of 40% Tocai Friulano, 20% Malvasia Istriana, 40% Pinot Bianco from the 180m high Fosarin vineyard of 50-year-old vines in sandy marl soils. Pinot Bianco aged in second-hand Allier barriques for approx. 6 months, Malvasia and Friulano aged in stainless steel tanks for 6 months."
