La Spinetta Moscato Passito Oro DOC

The Moscato grapes for the Oro are left to dry in the cellar until the end of December, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and an additional two years aging in new French oak barrels. The result is virtually liquid gold (“Oro” in Italian), a luscious wine with intense, pure aromas of grapefruit skin, honeysuckle, crystallized ginger, aromatic herbs and honey. Juicy, precise and penetrating, succulent yet firm flavors of lemon, thyme, vanilla, ripe citrus and pear are accented by maple syrup and spice. This is a dense, luscious, rich Moscato wine that pairs nicely with chocolate desserts and rich cheeses.

La Spinetta Moscato Passito Oro DOC 2013

Wine Advocate (94)- "Packaged in a precious 500-milliliter bottle, La Spinetta's 2013 Piemonte Moscato Passito Oro shows a dark copper color with yellow amber highlights. You taste the Moscato clearly with fragrant yellow rose or acacia, candied almond, blood orange, honey and marron glacé. The mouthfeel is viscous and rich."

La Spinetta Moscato Passito Oro DOC 2011

Wine Advocate (94)- "This is a special wine made from late-harvest Moscato grapes aged in French barrique for eight long years. The La Spinetta 2011 Piemonte Moscato Passito Oro (with only 1,000 500-milliliter bottles produced) opens to a dark golden color with polished copper or amber highlights. The perfumes are bright and intense, but interestingly, this aged Moscato shows a lot of herbal notes with dried rosemary and sage on top of honey, dried flowers and candied orange peel. The wine maintains its acidity, but it also shows thick layers of generous sweetness and richness."
