Some La Spinetta wines are to be served to important guests in a drawing room, seated in silk-upholstered chairs, enjoying bouquets of pressed violets and wild rose. The 2016 Langhe Nebbiolo is not one of those wines. This one is meant to go down easy and was consumed in a basement room, on a couch with an old friend to just chat the night away. With simple notes of cherry, spice and plum, it's one-dimensional and stripped down. The best fruit was meant for the more prestigious wines in this portfolio.
