Santa Barbara Rosso Piceno DOC Ste

The image of the Estate’s historic Rosso Piceno DOC was revamped in 2017, resulting in a new label and a new name: Stè, short for Stefano. Vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel, this is an easy-drinking wine, perfect for everyday occasions. Bright ruby red with notes of red fruit and spices on the nose, rich marasca cherry comes through along with a spicy aftertaste of white pepper. Dry and persistent, the Stè presents smooth, almost imperceptible, tannins. An attentive and precise selection of grapes in the vineyards ensures the highest quality.

Vinous Media on 2021 vintage

The 2021 Rosso Piceno Ste wafts up from the glass with a fresh and peppery bouquet, as roses and violets give way to crushed blackberries. It’s soft-textured with zesty acidity that motivates its tart wild berry fruits, as a vivid note of violet pastille forms toward the close. The 2021 finishes with grippy tannins, but also remarkably fresh, leaving hints of licorice to slowly fade. The Ste, a blend of 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese, will perform best at the dinner table.
