"The estate's 2007 Monferrato Rosso Pin (65% Nebbiolo, 35% Barbera d'Asti Bionzo) si gorgeous in this vintage. A blast of sweet perfumed cherries leads to roses, spices and minerals. The Barbera seams to provide a core of gorgeous, expressive fruit while the Nebbiolo gives the wine its sense of proportion. Everything is beautifully balanced in this highly pleasing red. A few years of cellaring should help soften the tannins, but the wine's pedigree is amply evident even at this early stage. In 2007, the Pin spent 16-18 months in new French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. This is a highly successful set of new releases from La Spinetta. The wines show great balance and class across the board.
