Wine Details

La Spinetta Barbaresco Bordini DOCG

In 2006 Giorgio Rivetti bought 4 hectares (10 acres) plot directly from the last of the Bordini family, who farmed the vineyard for over 300 years. Bordini is located adjacent to the Starderi vineyard on its western corner and it is exclusively plated to the Nebbiolo grape. The vines are 20-25 year old growing in the calcareous soils at 270 meters above sea level (885 feet). Barbresco Brodini ages for 20-22 months in oak barriques yielding an elegant and floral Barbaresco representative of La Spinetta style.

La Spinetta Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2023

Jeb Dunnuck (92)- "From southeast-facing vineyards purchased in 2006, the 2023 Barbaresco Bordini pours a transparent ruby hue. Aromas of pomegranate, strawberries, delicate spice, baked earth, and sweet herbs emerge from the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate shows smoothness and finesse from the sandy soils and relatively younger vines, though it closes with a touch of grip and tension. Drink 2026-2036"

La Spinetta Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2022

Jeb Dunnuck (93)- "Looking at the first of four Barbaresco, the 2022 Barbaresco Bordini is floral and inviting on the nose, and has fruity aromas of preserved strawberries, herbes de Provence, crushed flowers, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a good deal of intensity upfront, as well as fine tannins, snappy, angular acidity, and a nervous energy at this early stage. It will likely improve in another 6-12 months and can be enjoyed over the coming 10 years."

La Spinetta Barbaresco Bordini DOCG 2022

Vinous Media (92)- "The 2022 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is a fine effort from La Spinetta. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry fruit, cedar and pipe tobacco lend notable aromatic presence. This mid-weight, open-knit Barbaresco makes for a fine middle step into Giorgio Rivetti's top wines."
