Jeb Dunnuck (94)- "A medium ruby red hue, the 2022 Barbaresco Gallina has pretty and refined layers that start to unfold in the glass with notes of cinnamon, bright red berries, currants, sweet tangerine citrus, and floral perfume. The palate is linear and focused, with fine tannins, ripe acidity, and notes of dusty earth on the finish. It’s a very pretty wine out of the gate and should drink well over the next 12-15 years."
Vinous Media (93)- "The 2022 Barbaresco Vigneto Gallina is a very pretty, delicate wine. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, spice, mint and dried herbs are nicely lifted. In this vintage, the Gallina is decidedly understated and refined, with less of an oak imprint than what has been the norm. This is such a joyous wine. The only question is whether the slightly gritty tannins will soften. "
Decanter (92)- "Ageing in 20% new French oak barrels lends toasty top notes with eucalyptus, fennel and candied cherry joining in. The tannins are firm and quite dense but appropriately balanced with the concentrated fruit. A stream of orange water and sweet herbs suffuse the mid-palate, and bright acidity buoys. A bit more style over place but well put together. The first of four Barbaresco bottlings, Gallina has been produced since 1995. The estate boasts almost 5.5 hectares in this esteemed MGA, with vines averaging 55-years-old."
