Wine Advocate (96)- "The Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna di Pianrosso Santa Caterina d'Oro is generous in aromatic delivery, offering dark fruit nuances and layered complexity, yet it holds back on the palate, especially when tasted alongside the estate’s riper 2021 releases. That restraint is a defining feature of the 2020 growing season, which favored balance and clarity over muscle. The wine is powerful, to be sure, but its subtle definition and measured mouthfeel offer a clearer window into the inherent elegance of Sangiovese. Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona is a historic, organically farmed estate in Montalcino. The property extends across approximately 195 hectares, including 50 hectares of vineyards and 30 hectares of olive groves. The vineyards are planted primarily to Sangiovese and are situated between 240 and 360 meters in elevation in the warmer southern part of the denomination. Soils are predominantly galestro schist with Eocene-era clay components, contributing structure and mineral definition to the wines. Recent releases, particularly from the 2021 vintage, show ripe and rich flavor profiles."
James Suckling (95)- "Crazy aromas of white truffles, cherries, plums and lots of cedar. Full-bodied with attractive fruit and fresh acidity. Cedar undertones. Crunchy finish with complex wood, forest and berry flavors. Drink or hold."
Falstaff Magazine (100)- "Bright ruby red, with subtle brightening on the rim. Aromas of ripe cherries, ripe strawberries, dried rose petals, a hint of sealing wax and subtle notes of tobacco. Very full-bodied, rich and engaging on the palate, with great salinity and juiciness. A big, vibrant and powerful wine with a long finish."
